Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag is not concerned with the sacking rumours as the Dutchman is entirely focused “on the process” as the Red Devils continue to push for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
United currently sit on sixth position with 47 points after 28 matches in the league, nine points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa and they have already crashed out of the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
They can still finish the season with a trophy as The Red Devils will take on Coventry City in the semi-final of the FA Cup and will face the winner of Manchester City vs Chelsea should they qualify for the final.
England’s head coach Gareth Southgate was linked to a move to Old Trafford recently but the Dutchman didn’t seem concerned as he is only focused on the current season.
“You know when you are working at Man United there will always be noise, rumours around the club, the manager, the players, whatever,” Ten Hag said.
“There will always [an] issue – you like it, to talk about. Of course, we have different interests, but we are not focusing on that.
“We are focusing on the process, we are focusing on the team to play better, to improve the way of play, so I don’t care about (it).”
Earlier on Friday, Ten Hag confirmed that Lisandro Martinez could play in the Premier League match against Brentford FC after remaining on the sidelines for more than 45 days.
Martinez got injured during a 3-0 win against West Ham United at Old Trafford on February 6 and was ultimately substituted in the 71st minute.
"Yes, there is a chance [back in the squad]. We have missed him [Martinez] every game because he brings a composure in the team, a calmness in the team," Ten Hag told reporters when asked about a potential return for the defender.
"At the same time, a winning attitude and he can express this very clearly. He can transfer that into the team and that contributes a lot to our levels."
